Dear Doctors and friends,

I feel it a great privilege and honor to be elected your president for the year 2012 and I am very thankful for the trust you all have placed with me with this office. Though Parker County Medical Society was incorporated in 1994, it has not been as active as one would have wished it to. With the increasing medical community presence in Weatherford, it was felt necessary to have a more active medical society that enables us to interact with one another in a social environment and also to have CME programs locally. It is also imperative for us to have a cohesive medical community where we can all work together in harmony in an amicable atmosphere that could be more meaningful to all of us. I am glad to say that we now have over fifty active members to help us meet our goals.

I believe that we now have most specialists represented in the community who can effectively provide excellent care for our patients in Weatherford. With the recent addition and the opening of the Cardiac catherization lab at Weatherford Regional Medical Center we are able to take care of relatively complex cardiac patients in our community. We also have a group of vibrant energetic primary care physicians in the community. I feel that we can now provide excellent quality, compassionate care locally in our community.

In terms of CME we are trying to organize quality CME programs on a quarterly basis in Weatherford. Our goal is to get quality speakers from DFW area and national speakers whenever possible. As part of TMA (Texas Medical Association) we also have access to a varied group of speakers with expertise on medico-legal, office management, quality measurement and EMR topics which often can be credited for ethics CME that we require every year.

We also plan to have a free Annual Health Fair for the residents of Parker county organized by physicians and nurses. I hope this will continue to be an annual event attended by the community and supported by local business. Our spouses play an important role in all our lives and endeavors and to that end we would like to organize an annual Holiday Dinner in December for the physicians and spouses. Lastly, we are working diligently to organize our internet site www.parkerCMS.org to make it an effective tool for us to communicate with each other, get information about health care changes and also be a source of information on local business which support and provide medical and business needs in our community. I would like to see the site develop into a source of information hub for incoming new physicians to be able to connect with local business and also for patients to get quick detailed information on physicians in the community. We will have a section "circle of friends" which will list businesses that sponsor and support the medical society. I would like to specially thank Dr. Michael Houck and Karen Brierton our executive secretary who have both put in countless hours to make our common goal a reality. Finally allow me please to seek your continued support and cooperation to make this Society truly purposive and meaningful to all of us. Thanking you all and looking forward to a wonderful year.

Respectfully,

Sanjeeb Shrestha, MD, FACG
Past President, Parker County Medical Society.
